Complete guide to installing, activating, and using all 17 commands in Rankol ORGPro — the PowerPoint org chart add-in by Rankol Solutions LLP.
Installation
Rankol ORGPro is delivered as a Windows installer (Setup_RankolORGPro.exe). It automatically copies the add-in to the correct folder and registers it in PowerPoint — no manual steps needed.
Download the installer
After purchase, download Setup_RankolORGPro.zip from your Payhip receipt email. Click the download button in the email.
Run the installer
Right-click Setup_RankolORGPro.zip → Extract All → open the extracted folder → double-click Setup_RankolORGPro.exe. If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, click More info → Run anyway. This is normal for new software.
Click Next → Finish
Follow the simple installer wizard. Takes about 5 seconds. No options to configure — just Next and Finish.
Open PowerPoint
The RANKOL ORGPro tab appears automatically in your ribbon between Insert and Design. No restart needed.
Activate your license
Click RANKOL ORGPro → License & Help → Activate. Paste your license key from the purchase email → click OK. Done.
Tip: If the tab doesn't appear after installation, close and reopen PowerPoint. On rare occasions a restart is needed for the registry to take effect.
Macros must be enabled. Go to File → Options → Trust Center → Macro Settings → select "Disable all macros with notification" or "Enable all macros". If you see a yellow security bar, click Enable Content.

Org Connectors
Selection model for all connector tools: Click the parent shape first, then Shift-click each child shape, then click the connector button. Full Ctrl+Z undo supported. All connector tools require plain rectangular AutoShapes.
Top to Bottom
Draws elbow connectors from the bottom centre of the parent to the top centre of each child. Classic vertical org chart layout.
Use for: standard org charts, reporting hierarchies, vertical decision trees.
Left to Right
Draws elbow connectors from the right side of the parent to the left side of each child. Horizontal hierarchy flowing rightward.
Use for: process flows, horizontal org charts.
Right to Left
Draws elbow connectors from the left side of the parent to the right side of each child. Horizontal hierarchy flowing leftward.
Use for: reverse process flows, right-anchored org charts.
Mid to Left
Draws elbow connectors from the bottom of the parent to the left side of each child. Lateral branch flowing leftward.
Use for: left-branching sub-trees, mixed direction org charts.
Mid to Right
Draws elbow connectors from the bottom of the parent to the right side of each child. Lateral branch flowing rightward.
Use for: right-branching sub-trees, mixed direction org charts.
Horizontal Chain
Links all selected shapes sequentially left to right — Shape 1 → Shape 2 → Shape 3. Each shape connects to the next in selection order.
Use for: process steps, timelines, sequential workflows.
Important: Select shapes in chain order — connection sequence follows your selection order exactly.
Vertical Chain
Links all selected shapes sequentially top to bottom — Shape 1 → Shape 2 → Shape 3. Each shape connects to the next in selection order.
Use for: vertical process steps, cascading decisions, approval chains.

Utility Tools
Rect Box
Places a rectangular highlight box behind the selected shapes, sized to enclose all of them with padding. Sent to back automatically so it doesn't cover your content.
Use for: grouping visually related shapes, highlighting a team or department, adding background colour to a section.
Oval Box
Places an oval highlight box behind the selected shapes, sized to enclose all of them. Sent to back automatically.
Use for: drawing attention to a cluster of shapes, softer visual grouping vs rectangle.
Select Similar
Automatically selects all shapes on the slide that match the current selection by: fill colour, line colour, line thickness, and shape type.
Use for: selecting all VP-level boxes to resize together, batch formatting, selecting all connectors of one colour.
Line Legend
Generates a legend for selected connector lines. Each unique line style and colour gets a legend entry with a placeholder label. Select lines first, then click the button. Edit placeholder text after generation.
Use for: explaining what different connector styles mean (solid = reports to, dashed = dotted line).
Shape Legend
Generates a legend for selected shapes. Each unique shape colour and type gets a legend entry with a placeholder label. Select shapes first, then click the button.
Use for: explaining role levels by colour (blue = leadership, grey = support).
Number Shapes
Adds sequential labels to all selected shapes. When prompted choose: Style (1,2,3 or A,B,C) and Alignment (Middle-Left, Top-Left, Top-Centre).
Use for: numbering process steps, adding reference numbers to org boxes, labelling shapes for a key.
Same Size
Resizes all selected shapes to match both height and width of the first selected (reference) shape. Click reference shape first, then Shift-click all shapes to resize.
Use for: making all org boxes exactly the same size in one click.
Same Height
Resizes all selected shapes to match the height only of the reference shape. Widths unchanged. Click reference shape first, then Shift-click others.
Use for: aligning row heights across a diagram while preserving individual widths.
Same Width
Resizes all selected shapes to match the width only of the reference shape. Heights unchanged. Click reference shape first, then Shift-click others.
Use for: standardising column widths while preserving row heights.
Swap Object
Exchanges the positions of exactly 2 selected shapes. Each moves to where the other was. Sizes, formatting, and content fully preserved.
Use for: swapping two roles in an org chart, reordering process steps.
Note: Select exactly 2 shapes. Selecting more or fewer will show an error.

Activate
Enter your license key to unlock unlimited access. Connects to activation server once, then works offline forever.
Trial Info
Shows your current status — trial actions remaining, or "ACTIVATED" with your registered email if licensed.
Help
Opens this documentation page in your default browser.

Tips & Best Practices
- Position shapes first. Arrange all boxes before connecting. Moving shapes after connection can distort connector routing.
- Use Ctrl+Z freely. All 17 commands support full undo. If a connector looks wrong, press Ctrl+Z and try again.
- Select Similar + Same Size. Combine these to normalise all boxes of one type in exactly two clicks.
- Chain order matters. For Horizontal Chain and Vertical Chain, connection sequence follows your click order exactly.
- Parent first, always. For all 7 connector tools, click the parent shape first before Shift-clicking children.
- Reference shape first for sizing. For Same Size / Height / Width — click the shape whose dimensions you want to copy first.
- Build legends last. Add legends after your diagram is complete so all colours and styles are present in the selection.
Troubleshooting
🔴 RANKOL ORGPro tab not visible after install
Macros may be disabled. Go to File → Options → Trust Center → Macro Settings and enable macros. Close and reopen PowerPoint.
🔴 Windows SmartScreen blocked the installer
Click More info → Run anyway. SmartScreen warns about all new software that hasn't yet built a download reputation. The file is safe.
🔴 Ribbon icons appear as blank squares
Uninstall via Windows Settings → Apps → Rankol ORGPro → Uninstall, then reinstall fresh from the downloaded EXE.
🔴 Buttons do nothing when clicked
Make sure at least one shape is selected before clicking a tool. Most commands require a selection of 2 or more shapes.
🔴 "Selection invalid" error message
The connector tools require rectangular AutoShapes only. Groups, SmartArt, charts, tables, and text boxes are not supported.
🔴 Connectors route incorrectly
Press Ctrl+Z to undo. Reposition shapes further apart, then reconnect. Elbow connectors work best when shapes have clear space between them.
🔴 License key not accepted
Check for extra spaces before or after the key. Keys are case-insensitive. Ensure you have an internet connection during activation. Contact support@rankolsolutions.com if the problem persists.
🔴 Trial showing wrong count after fresh install
Open regedit, navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Rankol\ORGPro\ and delete the UsageCount value to reset.
